Work Day

First of all, Happy Easter to everyone! We hope you all had a wonderful Sunday celebrating our Lord's victory over death and what that means for us! We had a lot of fun reminiscing about Easter last year - the day Luke was born! We kept thinking "This time last Easter I was very uncomfortable sitting through the church service...this time last Easter we were making dinner and timing my contractions....this time last Easter we were leaving for the hospital... this time last Easter we finally met our little guy!" It is amazing how fast this year has flown by. I can't believe that our little boy is going to be one year old in just a few days! We are excited to be able to celebrate Luke's first birthday with family coming into town. Mom DeBoer and Andrea come in tomorrow and Mom and Dad Thomson arrive on Thursday.
We love it when friends and family come out to visit for oh, so many reasons. One of the lesser known reasons we love it when people come to visit is it gives us a concrete deadline to get things done around the house - forcing us to get our rears in gear.

Matt (and Luke) worked hard around the yard. We have these horrible little gophers chewing tunnels throughout our property. Matt has been trying everything under the sun to get rid of them. We'll see if there are positive results this time.

Luke is extremely interested in whatever tool we are using - be it a rake, a broom, a mop, etc. He loves gripping the handle and pushing it around. We let him push the broom around the kitchen floor but we weren't sold on letting him push a metal rake around the yard. Definitely when he's older - however, we're betting his interest in 'helping' won't be quite as strong when he's a teenager.
Luke making sure the garbage barrels are nice and clean.
Scrubbing the cars

Taking a snack break

Moving on to the inside of the house
Cleaning out mommy's closet
The funny thing about this is that I was busy folding laundry while Luke was busy taking my clothes off the hangers in my closet. He had half of my clothes on the floor before I realized it.
Luke cleaning out his drawers
Apparently Luke thinks his clothes are a little out of style and need to be thrown away

What a Goof Ball

Luke just loves to "organize" everything! By the way I heard that Juicy Fruit gum (or any gum with lots of sugar) works for the gophers, just putting it down their holes. It's not a very friendly method though...
