Well, so far it doesn't look like I'm a very good 'blogger'. I'm hoping that will change once my life gets more exciting... meaning when the baby arrives. I guess I feel like our lives at this point aren't all that special or blog-worthy.
Eric (Matt's brother) arrived this morning from Atlanta! Mom DeBoer and Andrea come in tomorrow night! We're really excited to have the DeBoer clan in CA for Christmas this year. It's so nice not to have to travel- work out plane tickets, rides to the airport, packing and shipping presents, etc. I have really enjoyed being able to actually decorate this year and do some Christmas baking. In the past years I never bothered to decorate the house or do much in terms of baking because we were never around long enough for us to really enjoy it. Not this year! Not to mention that it actually FEELS like Christmas this year thanks to the snow, yes SNOW, that we've already had! Last week Wednesday we got some flurries at our house. I had to run an errand at the Walmart that's a bit further up from our house and it was a winter wonderland! I honestly felt like I had been instantly transported back to the Midwest for bit. I loved it, probably because I wasn't driving - Matt was. He was complaining about how he moved to Southern California to escape the snow and here he was driving around in it.... what the heck? We've heard that it's supposed to rain pretty much everyday this week too so there's potential that we'll see even more snow! I'm thrilled about that possibility but feel a little bad that Mom DeBoer and Andrea come to CA from WA (where they've had a lot of snow so far) and instead of sunny weather they get snow! Such is life.

at long last...

I have been telling friends and family that I wanted to start a blog for a long time now and here I am, months later, finally getting around to it. I thoroughly enjoy looking at friends' blogs and figured it was about time to set up one of my own. This way friends and family from near and far can have a sneak peak into what is going on in our lives. Not to mention that we have a fun way to "record" pieces of our daily lives. We'll see how well I do with this. I have a bad habit of getting excited about something and being very dedicated at first only to lose interest and forget about it before too long.

Matt and I have been very busy lately! Moreso than normal I feel - especially this past weekend. Matt completely blew out his right front tire on the way to work Friday morning. I mean COMPLETELY blew the entire thing clear off the rim! I don't even know if he really knows how it happened, only that before he knew it he was watching his tire roll away infront of him! Luckily he was able to get off the freeway and no one way hurt. Since my job is much more flexible than his, I was able to meet him at the gas station he rolled to and wait for the AAA guy. Matt was afraid he'd done more serious damage than just a blown tire and we thought I might have to get the car towed to the dealership but no, it just needed the doughnut put on and I was good to go. The tire is still sitting on the off ramp at Redlands Blvd. for those of you locals who may want to check it out! Matt helped some friends move on Friday night while I took the car to get the tire replaced and wandered around Walmart aimlessly for what felt like an eternity.
Saturday, I went to Altadena (about an hour and some away) for work to see a client who couldn't come into San Bernardino. It was cold and rainy and Californians do NOT do well driving in less than perfect weather so needless to say, the traffic was not very favorable. At least I was getting paid to sit in traffic adn thank God for cell phones! That night was the RCS Christmas program where Matt sang and played trombone... yes, played trombone. Or attempted to play trombone. :) We had a great time hanging out with friends at Chili's afterwards. Sunday we were off to church then Matt went to a friend's house to watch the Bronco's game while I headed to 29 Palms (another 1.5 hours away) to see a couple more clients. Matt had to sing in church again Sunday night so he went back to church and I stayed home to clean, catch up on laundry, and do the rest of the "regular" weekend things that I hadn't been able to get to.
So, there you have it.. a piece of our not-so-exciting life. Hopefully I'll be able to post some pictures (especially of my ever-growing baby bump) sometime soon, if I can figure it all out...
