Rice Cereal and then some

Mmmmm. Luke's pediatrician gave us the green light to start him on 'solids'. (I'm not sure why these foods are called 'solids' when they are anything but solid - the rice cereal we give him could really qualify as a liquid, but whatever). So far, so good. Luke's little digestive system seems to be handling the cereal well and he is doing a good job swallowing this new, thicker substance. I am still a bit confused by the whole starting solids thing, like how much to give him and when and all that, so we're taking it nice and slow. He's not quite 5 months now and most baby books/websites that I've read suggest to start solids around 6 months, so I'm not really in any hurry.

Here Matt is giving him his first taste of rice cereal.

(I have a bunch more pictures of Luke eating his cereal but for some reason when I went to publish this post the pictures were gone. ARGH!! Sorry, they'll have to wait)

Here's a few more pictures we've taken recently....

"Its an A-Bomb, for A-Rod!"

We had to expose Luke to baseball firsthand so we took the 'whole family' to a 66ers game (the minor league team in San Bernardino). Despite the fact that the visiting team threw a 'no-hitter' it was not the most exciting game. We were all in agreement that the game was pretty boring but it was fun to go anyway. It was Jung's first baseball game too. I'm not sure who was more excited to be there, Luke or Jung...the jury is still out.

Luke isn't teething yet at least as far as I can tell, but he loves to chew on a wet/cold washcloth. He seemed to think it was funny when we put it on his head. I thought he'd pull it off immediately but instead he kept it there for quite awhile.
Stylish isn't it?
And the new hair style that goes with taking the wet washcloth off his head

Random picture - shows off his big blue eyes.
Luke was helping daddy clean out his closet. He rolled himself under Matt's shirts and had a jolly good time playing with all the sleeves. I couldn't resist taking a few pictures.

That's it for now. I still have few videos that I want to post but our computer is ridiculously slow and I'm lacking in both time and patience. One of these days I'll get them posted, or get a new computer... we'll see.

We've been giving Isaac about a tablespoon of rice cereal a couple times a day, along with a fruit or veggie. He doesn't always eat all of it and seems more interested in eating in the evening. Every baby is different, of course. Its good to take it slow at first. Right now they are really just learning to eat the solids more than really needing them.
If you plan on making your own baby food (and even if you aren't) www.wholesomebabyfood.com is a good source. You can look up a fruit or veggie and it will recommend the age to introduce it, along with recipes. You can also browse by age.
Have fun!
