Comfort Items

Luke is now in that stage where he gets attached to things. He tends to have a favorite toy/item that he will carry around the house with him and will keep coming back to throughout the day. These various toys/items will help comfort him if he gets hurt or upset. It is quite adorable really. However, Luke has a quirky-ness when it comes to his comfort items. For some toddlers it is a teddy bear or blankie. For Luke, it's a spoon, a shoe, a spatula (strange infatuation with things beginning with the letter S apparently).... very rarely is it an actual toy. He has this sweet little bear that is oh, so soft and I keep trying to get him attached to that (or any other stuffed animal really) but no luck. The other day he held onto a spoon for the majority of the morning. When I put him down for a nap I realized that he was all snuggled up with this spoon (I wanted to get a picture but didn't press my luck). Just this morning Luke was quite distraught that Matt, who had been holding him, set him down on the floor. Quick thinking Matt grabbed the spatula and handed it to Luke, who immediately settled down. weirdo.

Sounds like Jacob! He had a weird attachment to a potato masher for a while. I have a picture of him all snuggled up on his couch with it when he was sick one time. Silly boys!

I think mom and dad have some pictures of you with strange items in hand... a strainer comes to mind :) Guess the nut didn't fall too far from the tree in this case! ;)

Love your update! It makes me feel more in the know of his little personality. Cute picture! What a funny little guy!

Too cute! At least a spatula is easier to replace than a special toy.
