We planned to go up to Michigan on June 30 and spend some time with college friends before getting to the cottage in Holland for the week with Matt's family. We have incredible friends from Calvin, most of whom still live in the Grand Rapids area, so it's not too much of a hassle to get the whole crew together when we are able to visit. We haven't seen these friends in at least 2 years, so we were overdue for a visit.
Mom DeBoer was able to get a better airfare flying into Chicago vs. Grand Rapids. It worked out perfectly that we were able to pick her up at O'Hare then drive up to GR the following day together. So Grammie got to spend a bit more time with Luke which is always a perk.

Co-Napping on the way up to Michigan.
Luke did great in the car - he is a pro traveler at this point.
We dropped Mom DeBoer off at her sister, Barb's, house and then continued on to Lansing to see our good friends Dean and Angie and their new baby, Austin. Matt and Dean snuck in a few rounds of golf while Angie and I took care of our boys at their house and just hung out. It was so great to just be able to spend time together, especially in this new stage of life we're in. One of the evenings we got some ice cream and walked around Michigan State's campus. It was such a nice night - combined with the ice cream and company it was pretty much perfect.

Too cute for words
The boys checking out the entrance to the stadium - looking at all the trophies and awards
Magic Johnson's statue
Luke making sure Austin was ok in his carrier. I think Austin's Daddy has it covered.
Luke LOVED running around the base of the statue. He threw a total fit when we had to leave. We even tried the "ok, fine. We're leaving you then. Bye bye" bit- Luke just waved bye-bye to us and went running back to the statue. *sigh*

The following night Dean and Angie hosted a BBQ for all the Calvin friends. Matt and Brad catching up
Dave, Mike and Dean manning the grill
Luke and Josiah (son of Josh and Kelly) became fast friends... future college roommates perhaps?
Going up and down the steps to the deck was a good time
... but it's WAY more fun to be tossed over the side!
The whole gang (minus Joel) relaxing by the fire
The girls - love you all!
I vote next reunion is at our house in CA - no mosquitos! :)
