Total Madness

It's been total madness in the DeBoer house... March Madness that is. I think Matt looks forward to this time of year more than any other time. Even Christmas takes a back seat to the excitement of filling out a bracket, watching game after game after game, rooting for the underdog and loving the upsets (except when it's a bracket buster). Matt had everyone in our house fill out a bracket this year- me, Jung, Charles and even Luke. He started to have Luke fill out his bracket by putting two toys on the floor to represent the two competing teams and the toy Luke grabbed would be his pick. This was a good idea in theory but Luke was far more interested in playing with anything but those two toys and so Matt had to scrap that idea. It has been fun watching the games and rooting for our picks.
We came across a nerf basketball hoop that Matt had been given from a former student and set it up for Luke to play with. He's a natural.

Lukerella, Lukerella...

First, Sweep all the floors...
Make sure you get all the crumbs from under the table!
And under the cabinets!
And Don't forget the fridge!
And THEN you may go to the ball...the GOLF ball, that is.

Good Morning Sunshine

One of my very favorite times is when Luke wakes up from a nap and is in SUCH a good mood! He's getting a few more teeth these days so lately he's been waking up cranky more often than not. The other day I could hear him just blabbering away over the monitor and knew this was a good day. So I grabbed our camera and had myself a good chuckle. Hope you get the same!

I was making faces at Luke from behind the camera- be glad that you can't see me.
Warning: If you are prone to motion sickness it is suggested that you take a Dramamine prior to watching this video. :)

and just a few moments later...

Buh buh buh bye.

Owies

One of the "bummers" of having an EXTREMELY active little guy is that Luke has already has his share of bumps and bruises. I cannot even count all of the times poor little Luke has fallen and bumped his head. I think last week he had at least 3 bruises on his forehead, all in various stages of healing.
Just yesterday he fell in the bathtub. I thought he just bumped his head again but when he pulled his head back off my shoulder I quickly saw that it was more than that as the corner of his eye was all bloody. (insert shudders and goosebumps here). Somehow, Luke split open his eyelid. OUCH! Of course, this happened while Matt was at school so I had no reinforcements to help hold down his arms so I could get a good look/clean it out well. I tried to distract him with a sippy cup, toys, etc. No dice. For whatever reason I thought to try and distract him with Sesame Street (I almost NEVER have the TV on during the day, much less any kids shows)...worked like a charm! I was able to hold a cold washcloth on his eye for a little bit but still couldn't see how deep the cut was. Added to that was my fear that he smacked his head harder than I originally thought and he may have a mild concussion- he was SO mellow after awhile. After calling his pediatrician I was advised to head into Urgent Care in case he needed stiches. I HATE Urgent Care with a firey passion. AFter waiting for far too long we were told that it was just a minor cut (it just appeared to be deeper due to the natural creases in his eyelid) and he would be just fine. I must admit I felt a little like an over-reactive psycho mom. But Matt was quick to assure me that it was worth it- you can never be too careful when it comes to babies and head injuries. We survived and this is probably the first of many trips into Urgent Care with Luke - just a hunch.
Poor baby

A Day in the Life of Luke DeBoer

It was brought to my attention that I have let too much time pass between posts. I deeply apologize for my lack of blogging lately. Although I can't promise that it won't happen again, I will say that I will try my very best to do better. :)
Perhaps part of my delinquency in updating is due to the fact that not much has really been going on in the DeBoer world. It's pretty much same ol' same ol'... we wake up, we go to work/school/internship, we come home, we play with Luke, we eat, we go to bed, we do it all over again. It's a glamorous life, really. But who are we kidding? No one checks our blog to keep up with Matt or Lisa. It's all about LUKE.
While I haven't kept up with the blog, I have been keeping up with taking a few pictures almost every day so I have plenty to post.
So, without further adieu: A Day in the Life of Luke DeBoer
Sleeping oh, so sweetly.
Time to get up already?
Just five more minutes...
Good morning sleepy head
First things first... help mommy re-organize the fridge AND help myself to a few grapes
moving on to organizing the drawers:
which of course means emptying the entire contents of the drawer onto the floor!
The cabinet that holds my diapers really needs to be cleaned out too
Enough with the chores, time to get on with playing!
Mmmm. Lunch Time AKA "eat what I like and throw the rest on the floor time!"
I LOVE going outside! Luckily for me, we have a few parks within walking distance.
Daddy may be just a wee bit big for this slide. Just a thought
Practicing my wheelbarrow walk
The baby swings were occupied but swinging with Mommy is pretty fun too
Finally, my own swing!
See the look on my face- this is serious business
Playing at the park is a tough job. After about an hour or so I'm ready for a nap but afterwards I'm always ready to head back outside to play!
After dinner Daddy and I do tricks- we're pretty good!
Then bath time AKA "splash as much water out of the tub as possible time"
Finally, a book, a bottle and a good cuddle with Mom and Dad, and off to slumber land I go.
It's a good life.
