Bath Time Fun

Luke LOVES LOVES LOVES bathtime! His very first bath (at a few days old) was not an enjoyable experience for anyone but since then, Luke has learned that bath time can be wonderful! I think it has something to do with the fact that he is not hindered with clothes or a diaper - this kid LOVES being in the buff. He could be a little on the cranky side and we strip him down and he'll be instantly happy. And on the flip side, he could be totally happy (like after a bath) and when he start to get him dressed... instant melt down.
I decided to attempt taking some pictures of him in the tub (trying very hard to keep them G-rated) I was somewhat successful - I managed to get a few cute pictures, protect Luke's modesty AND I didn't drop the camera into the bathwater! I'd consider that successful. :)

SO happy to be in the tub!
He gets all giddy when he hears the water pouring out of the facet

I had a hard time getting him to look at me - he was FAR more interested in the duck

"look ma, no hands! I can chew on the duck AND go for the washcloth at the same time!"

Time to actually get clean
"ok, now that I'm clean... back to the duck"
I love this dopey face!
Yay for no tears baby soap!
Okay, so in all honesty Luke isn't the only one who has a good time when he's in the tub. I've been experimenting with various hair styles now that he's got a decent head of hair....
This is the dweeby alfalfa from Little Rascals
And this is the Thug in the Tub...
That's about it in terms of new hair styles, at least for now. I'm sure as more hair comes in my creativity will soar to new heights in that department. :)

All dry and snug and ready for bed, almost.

I have been going a little "camera happy" these past few days. Luke is learning and doing more and more every day. Its as if we can see him learning new things... SO much fun. I want to capture as many of these moments as possible. I was able to capture a few fun moments and thought I'd share them with you! Please overlook the fact that I sound like a complete idiot in the videos - I'm working on that. :)
Enjoy.
First some videos...

...and some pictures.
Most of these were taken when Matt and Luke were playing on our bed. Luke was having a WONDERFUL time, just laughing and squealing and living it up! Too cute to pass up

A few more pictures

I'm not sure what is going on - it could be that our computer is old and out of date with current technology, it could be that we have a virus (I really hope not), it could be that I'm not the brightest crayon in the box and hit a few keys that I shouldn't when trying to post on the blog (very probable) but for whatever reason the last two times I've posted on our blog, the final published post is missing half of the pictures and blurbs I've written. SO frustrating!!
Anyway, I still wanted to share some of those originally deleted pics, hopefully it'll work this time!

First few bites of rice cereal

He loves playing in his booster seat. We try to get him to sit in it and play at the table while we have our dinner - sometimes it works, other times not so much.

"Milk Martini, anyone?"

Loving the rice cereal

"Do I have something on my face?"

Reading a soft book that was given to him by a family friend. The pages are all made of cloth and make musical sounds when you push a button. Luke LOVES it and I love that he can tear at and suck on the pages and the book isn't ruined! Best of both worlds!

Rice Cereal and then some

Mmmmm. Luke's pediatrician gave us the green light to start him on 'solids'. (I'm not sure why these foods are called 'solids' when they are anything but solid - the rice cereal we give him could really qualify as a liquid, but whatever). So far, so good. Luke's little digestive system seems to be handling the cereal well and he is doing a good job swallowing this new, thicker substance. I am still a bit confused by the whole starting solids thing, like how much to give him and when and all that, so we're taking it nice and slow. He's not quite 5 months now and most baby books/websites that I've read suggest to start solids around 6 months, so I'm not really in any hurry.

Here Matt is giving him his first taste of rice cereal.

(I have a bunch more pictures of Luke eating his cereal but for some reason when I went to publish this post the pictures were gone. ARGH!! Sorry, they'll have to wait)

Here's a few more pictures we've taken recently....

"Its an A-Bomb, for A-Rod!"

We had to expose Luke to baseball firsthand so we took the 'whole family' to a 66ers game (the minor league team in San Bernardino). Despite the fact that the visiting team threw a 'no-hitter' it was not the most exciting game. We were all in agreement that the game was pretty boring but it was fun to go anyway. It was Jung's first baseball game too. I'm not sure who was more excited to be there, Luke or Jung...the jury is still out.

Luke isn't teething yet at least as far as I can tell, but he loves to chew on a wet/cold washcloth. He seemed to think it was funny when we put it on his head. I thought he'd pull it off immediately but instead he kept it there for quite awhile.
Stylish isn't it?
And the new hair style that goes with taking the wet washcloth off his head

Random picture - shows off his big blue eyes.
Luke was helping daddy clean out his closet. He rolled himself under Matt's shirts and had a jolly good time playing with all the sleeves. I couldn't resist taking a few pictures.

That's it for now. I still have few videos that I want to post but our computer is ridiculously slow and I'm lacking in both time and patience. One of these days I'll get them posted, or get a new computer... we'll see.

This thing called life

I don't get the chance to update our blog as often as I would like. I think about it daily but then get busy with life and before I know it a week (or two or three) has gone by. By the time I finally get to sit down at our computer I have several past events/experiences that I want to 'blog about' that it can seem overwhelming and I'm not quite sure where to start.
So today I have decided to simply put a bunch of pictures and videos I have taken recently and let them do the talking. It seems easier that way (plus Luke decided he wasn't going to take a nap this morning and has been kind of cranky so who knows how much time I'll actually have).
Luke has been entertaining us by making all sorts of new noises...

Luke has been exposed to his fair share of Yankees games these past few weeks. I don't really advocate for infants watching t.v. or videos on the computer, but I'm fighting a loosing battle when it comes to watching "Daddy's Teams". Luke will be brainwashed - just like his father.

Luke has been spitting up a LOT lately. I asked the doctor about it at his last appointment and he said it was due to Luke having a bit of a cold. I guess the congestion contributes to reflux and more spit up. Lovely.

Luke had just eaten and Matt (not knowing Luke was nice and full) held Luke up to kiss his cheeks only to get a face full of Luke Puke! You can see it on Matt's nose in this picture! Ha. Oh the joys of fatherhood.

I got Luke up from his nap after church on Sunday to find that he had a bonefide black eye! I didn't notice it when I put him down for his nap so I'm a bit puzzled as to how this happened but he didn't seem to be bothered much by it. He has a tendency to bonk himself in the head with various toys and objects he's trying to get into his mouth (not so keen on the hand-eye coordination yet) so I guess he could have punched himself in the eye... who knows.

Luke's first shiner! He's such a boy. Our two international students are making their blog debut! We have all been adjusting pretty well. Charles and Jung get along great with one another and with us. We've learned how to say "hello, nice to meet you", "I'm hungry" and "Dude" in both Chinese and Korean! The boys laugh at our pronunciation, of course! We've also learned that they eat horses, dogs, snakes and other various animals that we would never consider eating in the United States. The other night Jung asked for some jam for his biscuit - Matt went to get it out of the fridge and asked what kind Jung would like "we have strawberry or dog". We all got a good laugh out of that. Matt= quite the comedian.

The boys are all bonding over playstation. (Jung KILLED Matt in soccer - 11 to 0) This is AFTER homework was finished, fyi.

Charles has taken a liking to Luke. He likes to play with him, hold him, and make him laugh. Since in China the families are only allowed to have one child per family he has said that it is a 'dream come true' to have a younger sibling for awhile!

As many of you have probably heard on the news, 'Tis fire season in southern California! As I am typing this I can hear the planes and helicopters flying over our house. But don't worry, we're not in any immediate danger. The fires in Yucaipa are the closest to us and you can see the smoke from our house and everything smells like a campfire. Last I heard the fire was 25% contained (which may sound bleak, but its really not) and the fire would have to climb up one side of a hill, down the other side, jump the freeway, and cross through a few more valleys/neighborhoods before reaching us. We are praying for the families who live in those areas however, as their homes are at risk.

View from our back patio...

Well, I had hoped to put some other videos on the blog but our computer is NOT cooperating with me. Hopefully I can get them up soon - like this month sometime! :)
